Summer Fun Day 2015

Last week’s Summer Fun Day 2015 at the Sutton Life Centre was attended by a number of local residents, community groups and organisations, and even some visitors from further afield! A total of 1,453 visitors attended the event over the course of the day!

Events for Everyone!

There were various events held across the centre throughout the day. In the library there was a selection of information stalls from Sutton LiveWell Service, Scill, Sutton Uplift Service, Sutton Metropolitan Police and the Friends of Sutton Life Centre who were selling refreshments and running a successful tombola stall. We are fortunate enough to have three ex-Councillors on our Friends Group, who were on hand to support us on the day, including Lord Tope. We also had face painting and glitter tattoos available from Twizzy.

Upstairs, we had arts and crafts sessions run by both SLC staff and staff from Time Out Youth Project. Ace Cupcake Parties were also here running cupcake decorating sessions which sold out by lunchtime!

In the garden, the atmosphere was set by our barbecue, which was sizzling away with the smell of burgers and hot dogs all day! Crystal Palace FC Foundation were running football sessions on the sports pitch, and Sutton Library Service were running a book character hunt and story times at the rear of the garden.

Inside our events spaces we had a GIANT inflatable obstacle course in The Street which was a popular attraction throughout the day. In our 360 Room we also had drama and singing taster sessions from Presto! Performing Arts in the morning, followed by dance taster sessions from XPN Dance in the afternoon.

Sutton Metropolitan Police Service also brought along their mobile CCTV unit for the afternoon, giving children the chance to see inside and find out more about what it is used for, whilst PCSO Steve the Mascot joined us for some photo opportunities with children.
