Life Skills School Tour Guide

Outline of Role:
Would you like to play a significant role in helping the delivery of our youth Life Skills Tours within our unique multi-media Centre where we teach pupils about citizenship, personal safety and the environment, using the latest cinematic technology?
If you are a friendly, outgoing person who would like to work within a vibrant team setting then we are looking for you!

Main activities/tasks
• Greeting and welcoming visitors;
• To introduce the tour to the school;
• To answer questions from young people as part of the tour;
• To deliver short information and Q&A sessions with groups of young people;
• To work with staff and partners to ensure a positive experience for visitors;
• To escort groups of young people around the centre in a safe and timely manner;
• To help with set-up and set-down before or after the tour, as required.

Life Skills School Tour Guide Role Description

Schools Outreach Advocate

Outline of Role:
Would you like to play an important role in promoting our unique multi-media youth learning centre to primary and secondary schools in London and surrounding areas?
If you have good telephone and personal communication skills and are enthusiastic about positive youth development then we would like to hear from you.

Purpose of Role:
• To build contacts with school staff (PSHE co-ordinators, school trip organisers, etc) and develop relationships;
• To work with Sutton Life Centre staff to market and promote our Life Skills Tours to schools within a set geographical area;
• To be able to commit to a 1-2 hour timeslot at regular intervals, ideally once per week.

Main activities/tasks
• Contacting schools by email and/or phone;
• Building contacts with appropriate staff within schools;
• Answering basic enquiries from schools and staff about our Life Skills Tours;
• Encouraging teachers/school councils to visit the centre for a free Showcase Tour.
• Accompanying our staff on outreach visits to schools.

Schools Outreach Advocate Role Description

Garden Assistant

Outline of Role:
We are looking for a friendly, outgoing person with a keen interest in gardening to work with Life Centre staff and a small group of volunteers to help look after our eco-garden and transform it into a true community garden.

Main activities/tasks
• Weeding, pruning and general garden maintenance;
• Planting new plants, bulbs and seeds;
• Propagating plants from seeds and/or cuttings;
• Assisting with the planning of future planting ideas and schemes;
• Working closely with community groups;
• Assisting with events/activities of a gardening nature aimed at both adults and children.
